Drought, desertification and climate change are placing increasing pressure on landscapes and biodiversity in Saudi Arabia's water-scarce environments.
The National Greening Program is responding to these challenges through coordinated restoration across rangelands, forests, deserts, urban and coastal ecosystems.
The Program has already planted more than 159 million trees and reintroduced native wildlife including the Arabian oryx, gazelle and ibex; using rainwater harvesting and treated wastewater to support restoration in water-scarce landscapes.
