Wetlands International's Building with Nature programme (2015-2021) restored mangroves in the coastal region of Demak, Indonesia, stabilising shorelines and revitalising livelihoods. Villagers are now restoring abandoned ponds into new aquaculture systems using the mangrove ecosystems. Associated Mangrove Aquaculture integrates aquaculture with forestry through the establishment of a mangrove greenbelt along the coastal areas of river estuaries. Watch the updates below.
