Is your community or Indigenous Peoples’ territory using ecosystem restoration to support sustainable livelihoods? Share your experience through this survey. 

A new search is underway for communities or Indigenous Peoples in Central Asia and Latin America who are showing how restoring nature can create jobs, income and new opportunities for local people. Through a survey launched by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Task Force on Best Practices, communities and Indigenous Peoples are invited to share their experiences as part of a search for the next generation of restoration champions.

The survey is seeking communities and Indigenous Peoples in the two regions that have successfully linked ecosystem restoration with strengthened livelihood opportunities and benefits for people and communities, including through income generation, employment, food security, or social, cultural and other locally relevant benefits.

Selected communities will be invited to take part in peer-learning activities and share their experiences from restoration activities that strengthen livelihood opportunities and benefits. They may also receive support to showcase their work through the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM) platform, which tracks progress of efforts to restore degraded ecosystems.
