The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to invite Indigenous Peoples’ organizations and relevant partners to contribute to the Global Survey on Indigenous Peoples’ Restoration and Monitoring.

The survey supports a global stocktaking exercise undertaken in the context of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Task Force on Best Practices and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework Target 2 Road Map. It seeks to identify, map and better understand ecosystem restoration initiatives led by Indigenous Peoples or carried out in partnership with Indigenous Peoples’ organizations around the world.

The information collected will contribute to:

• Promoting technical training and the use of appropriate and innovative tools for restoration monitoring;
• Connecting Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, networks and practitioners engaged in ecosystem restoration and monitoring;
• Identifying opportunities for intercultural knowledge-sharing through the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM); and
• Increasing the visibility and recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ contributions to ecosystem restoration, while respecting their rights, governance systems, knowledge and community protocols.

The survey consists of two sections covering contact information and Indigenous Peoples’ restoration and monitoring actions. It takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete.

Respondents are kindly requested to ensure that any information submitted is shared in accordance with the right of Indigenous Peoples to a Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). Information should only be provided where the respondent is duly authorized to share it. Personal contact information will be used exclusively by FAO for coordination and follow-up purposes and will not be publicly attributed without prior consent.
