The State of the World’s Forests 2026 is designed to guide readers from a global diagnosis of forest and land degradation to practical pathways for scaling up high-quality restoration. Each chapter builds progressively on the introductory framing, moving from evidence and global commitments to implementation models, governance frameworks and innovation mechanisms.

Across all chapters, climate resilience, biodiversity recovery, sustainable production, inclusive governance and agrifood systems transformation are treated as cross-cutting thematics, reinforcing the central message that high-quality FLR is a unifying pathway for sustainable development, environmental recovery and resilient livelihoods.
