How can better biodiversity indicators help countries track progress towards global nature goals?

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will host a side event at CBD COP-17 on 19 October 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia.

The session will present updates to selected headline indicators of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, highlighting improvements in measurement methods, national data collection and reporting. Participants will also exchange country experiences, discuss challenges and explore practical solutions to strengthen the use of indicators in tracking global biodiversity progress.

An interactive clinic will give Parties an opportunity to ask questions and seek guidance on implementing and using these indicators.

Discover how improved biodiversity monitoring can support more effective action and reporting.
