Saudi Arabia’s Sustainable Land Management Framework was developed under an agreement between FAO and WOCAT, in partnership with NCVC and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, to strengthen sustainable land management nationwide and create a platform bringing together government, NGOs and local communities.

This publication showcases 24 Sustainable Land Management (SLM) technologies and approaches implemented across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, demonstrating practical solutions to prevent, reduce and reverse land degradation in arid and hyper-arid landscapes. It highlights innovative practices in water harvesting, afforestation, ecosystem restoration, soil and water conservation, participatory community restoration, and sand dune stabilization that strengthen ecosystem resilience and support sustainable land management nationwide.
