Biodiversity conservation is closely connected to conflict, peace and security. Conflict and resource competition can affect biodiversity, while conservation interventions can also influence social tensions, rights, livelihoods and community relations. Understanding how these issues are reflected in national biodiversity planning can help identify gaps, good practices and opportunities for more conflict-sensitive conservation.
Ahead of 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Global Youth Biodiversity Network is inviting contributions to the Collective Assessment of Peace, Conflict and Instability in national biodiversity planning. Review a country’s most recent National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAP) and/or National Report and complete the short survey based on what you find.
