We are proud to announce that starting October 2023, Sumthing is officially part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Their digital platform will be a key enabler in the Decade’s crucial mission of reversing the degradation of ecosystems around the globe.

Nature’s comeback story

Sumthing is a social enterprise with one clear goal: to restore more nature than we lose each year. Their plan to achieve that goal is to unleash a sum of things; a movement of businesses and individuals that collectively creates a massive positive impact. To achieve that, they've set out on a mission to make nature restoration accessible, engaging, and meaningful for everyone.

The Sumthing platform connects businesses and individuals to a curated selection of nature restoration projects across the globe, and visualizes the impact made with each donation using a variety of technologies. Restoration project in various categories like reforestation, coral restoration, soil revitalization, kelp restoration and plastic removal, are independently assessed on various criteria. Those project that meet or exceed the standards use Sumthing’s platform to share proof of the results achieved with each donation. Watch a short video on how the project works here.

Boosting transparency: a key enabler for the Decade

Sumthing can play a key role as an enabler for the UN Decade by bringing much needed transparency to environmental initiatives. For example, Sumthing has been leveraging its’ platform to support a flagship challenge by providing financial and technological support to its’ appreciated long-term partner the Black Jaguar Foundation. The platform will provide near real-time media updates directly from the project site, enhanced by satellite monitoring. This commitment to transparency ensures that every donor and supporter can witness progress towards this challenge first hand. Sumthing's profound commitment to the UN Decade will see them ramping up to support other challenges and flagships in the Action Plan.
